Pet Vaccinations
Vaccines help protect your pet from potentially fatal infectious diseases. Millions of animals have benefited from vaccines against hazardous diseases throughout the years, and numerous lethal diseases that were previously common have all but disappeared.

Puppy and Kitten Vaccinations:
Puppies and kittens are particularly vulnerable to a range of infectious diseases, making timely vaccinations crucial for their overall well-being as their immune system is still developing. An incomplete series of vaccinations may lead to incomplete protection, making your pets vulnerable to infection.
At Holmdel Veterinary Clinic, we recommend a series of vaccinations to ensure your young pets are protected during their formative months. These vaccines include:
Core Vaccines:
• Distemper: Protects against canine or feline distemper, a highly contagious and potentially fatal viral disease.
• Parvovirus: Guards against parvovirus, a severe gastrointestinal infection that can affect both dogs and cats.
• Hepatitis: Shields against canine hepatitis (for dogs) or feline viral rhinotracheitis and calicivirus (for cats)
Recommended Vaccines:
• Bordetella: Recommended for dogs in close contact with other dogs, preventing kennel cough.
• Feline Leukemia: Advised for outdoor cats to prevent the transmission of feline leukemia virus.
• Leptospirosis: Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial infection that affects both people and animals. It spreads through infected water, soil, or animal urine. Raccoons, rats, and mice are common carriers. The vaccine is given twice, 3-4 weeks apart, then annually for protection.
Our veterinarians will develop a personalized vaccination schedule based on your pet’s breed, lifestyle, and risk factors, ensuring comprehensive protection during their vulnerable early stages.
Adult Dog and Cat Vaccinations:
As your pets transition into adulthood, their vaccination needs evolve. Holmdel Veterinary Clinic provides a range of vaccines to address the unique health concerns of adult dogs and cats. Key vaccines for adult pets include:
Core Vaccines:
• Rabies: Mandatory for both dogs and cats, as rabies poses a significant threat to pets and humans.
• Distemper/Parvovirus (dogs) or Rhinotracheitis/Calicivirus (cats): Booster shots to maintain immunity against these core diseases.
Non-Core Vaccines:
• Lyme Disease: Recommended for dogs in regions where Lyme disease is prevalent.
• Canine Influenza: Advised for dogs with a higher risk of exposure to the influenza virus.
Regular veterinary check-ups at Holmdel Veterinary Clinic ensure that your adult pets receive the appropriate vaccinations and updates to their preventive healthcare plan.
